A. All Chartered Physiotherapists have undergone the required training and passed the necessary exams to enable them to practice. They will have the letters MCSP and SRP after their names showing that they are also State Registered.
Q. What is Electrotherapy?
A. Electrotherapy includes Ultrasound and Interferential treatments. They are the use of electrical energy waves which affect tissues by reducing swelling, pain and muscle spasm and strengthen muscles. Thus it promotes healing. Compex, and GameReady are also electrically operated machines to aid your recovery.
Q. What is GameReady?
A. GameReady is an icing compression machine that originated in the USA under the development of NASA scientists. It is one of the most exciting innovations in icing compression to help alleviate swelling and pain. NFL, NBA, NHL, Premiership football, Premiership Rugby clubs and Kensington Physiotherapy currently use it. (www.gameready.com).
Q. What is Compex?
A. Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) from the Compex machine reproduces the body’s natural process of voluntary muscular contractions with “optimal” electrical impulses. When an electrical impulse is applied to the motor nerve, it provokes a deeper and more complete muscle contraction than what can be attained through standard voluntary training or activity. A muscle cannot tell the difference between a voluntary contraction (triggered by the brain through voluntary activity). The result is a more efficient workout regimen with less risk of injury to joints and tendons and without cardiovascular fatigue. This means your muscles will be switched on to maximize your recovery.
